Second Harvest
Every Tuesday night our congregation opens its doors to serve a free meal to anybody in need. God worked in mighty ways to bring this ministry to fruition and it continues to grow and change. We currently serve 30-50 people each week. Also, before the meal a time of prayer and devotion takes place during which people may make prayer requests. We strive to continue to serve others not only with physical nourishment but also spiritual. If you have a heart for this type of ministry we would welcome your service and ideas. Please come to join us on a Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

"Smile God Loves You" Dental Program
This program had its start in a generous donation that was given to the church specifically to help those who are uninsured/underinsured that may be in need of dental work. We work with a local dentist who has offered his services at a discounted rate to those people who are in the program. The church works with the individuals in need and is able to cover a certain amount of dental work. We recognize this is a great need in our community. Should it be a need that you have, please call us to set up an appointment. If this is a ministry that interests you, we would welcome your ideas. This program is funded solely through the generous donations of church and community members.

Camp Go Green
Over a year ago, our congregation made the decision to do as much as possible in “going green”. We also recognized that this was something that could be offered to the community, particularly youth in community, in different educational settings. We host a Camp Go Green event about four times a year, inviting youth from around the community to come together and learn more about what it means to “go green” and to care for the planet that God has entrusted to our care. In the past, events have included a trip down to a local farm for the youth to learn about farming and other ways of caring for the land without leaving behind waste. We have also had day gatherings at the church. These events are provided for the youth at no cost.

College Outreach
Over the past year, our congregation has connected with two of the local colleges in the area, University of Northern Alabama and Northwest Shoals Community College. Our congregation serves as a “host family” for six foreign exchange students that are attending the University of Northern Alabama. This includes showing them around the area, having dinners with them and working to ensure that they feel welcome here in Northern Alabama. Our connection to the Northwest Shoals Community College has been with their men’s and women’s basketball teams. We offer different meals and opportunities for the students to get off-campus and have another support system.

Our church has partnered with the local Habitat for Humanity organization in the building of a local house. Currently it is scheduled to be built Spring 2012 so more information will be coming on our involvement with the house and how you might get involved to help.
